I don’t think it will ever reach the same price as BTC. The reason is not BTC’s popularity. ETH is plenty popular now. I think that it won’t reach anywhere near its price because of the original investors in BTC, most of whom were massive criminals (hence its initial reputation) but so far ahead of any government monitoring or the like that they never got caught. Some have since lost access to their accounts, others can’t pilfer the funds to other actual anonymous coins because of how much time it would take, as well as mixing. Others believe in the coin and “know” that the value will continue to rise and so have also kept their piles of “gold” all this time. For reasons like this, a huge portion of the mined coins is not in circulation, plus the use of the coin remains very expensive and impractical, so most people won’t buy it unless to hold it.
