I say it depends on who you are buying from just like anything else you buy online. You wouldn’t buy a car without educating yourself, so it’s the same with jewelry. There is lots of information online you can use to educate yourself about jewelry. Is it a reputable seller? Do they have good reviews? Is there a return policy? is there an appraisal that comes with it? Most reputable online sellers have easy return policies and will happily take returns verses getting a bad review or reputation. If you are buying from an individual you do take on more risk, but you could be getting a better deal. Ask for receipts, appraisals and history of the item. Go with your gut. If it doesn’t feel right, dont do it. Educating yourself before you buy is the best thing you can do. Quality jewelry is not cheap. Do not trust online pictures. If it’s too good to be true, there’s something wrong.
